What are Roulette Betting Limits and Its Significance to the Game?

What’s beautiful about roulette is that the game offers players a huge variety of opportunities to bet. However, there are certain limitations that enthusiasts and game lovers alike should take into account and be wary of.

In most land-based casino, these “limitations” will be brandished in every roulette table. It can be found written or indicated in a plaque resting on top of a table and casino goers who wish to try their luck in the game can easily see it. There are also times when the dealer will be the one to show and explain the terms.

Generally, these are called “table limit signs” and the information that lies herein indicates the limitations of the roulette betting placement observed at a particular establishment.

Table limit signs may contain the following:

  • Minimum chip denomination – ex. £1.00
  • Minimum inside bet – ex. £10.00
  • Minimum outside bet – ex. £10.00
  • Maximum inside bet – ex. £150.00
  • Maximum outside bet – ex. £3,000.00
  • Any Way to the Number

There are times when players, especially the beginners, may not understand what’s indicated in the sign, for example in the last line which says “any way to the number.” No need to fret though because we will further explain what they mean below.

Chip Denomination

Normally, player buy chips that they’ll use to bet in the game from the dealer. A stack may contain at least 20 chips and each chip can have different minimum value. This concept applies both in online and offline casino.

In the US, for example, a chip might be worth within the range of £.50 and £2.00. This means, the player has to pay £20.00 for a single stack.

In some casinos, a player who just entered the game may be required to purchase higher than the minimum value of his chips. In this case, the dealer will put a marker, the term of which is known as “lammer” on the rim of the roulette wheel. This will help the dealer know the value of that player’s chips.

Table Minimum (Inside and Outside)

For both inside and outside bets, the table minimum might be the same. But some casinos treat either of which differently. To explain the concept, consider this illustration:

Suppose a casino has a table minimum of £14.00 where each chip is worth 14.00 where each chip is worth £2.00. If a player wants to make an outside bet, he has to put at least 7 chips on every bet so that he can follow the minimum requirement.

Contrary to what many people, the chips a player use cannot be spread in any way he likes it. This means that if he is eyeing to bet on Black, he needs to bet at least 7 chips, and if he is also betting on (for example) the 1st Dozen (1-12), he has to put yet another 7 chips.

The player is, however, not restricted on the kind of bet he wishes to make. He can go for inside bets only, outside bets only, or a combination of both, for each round of spin. This is as long he observes the table minimum.

Table Maximum (Inside and Outside Bets)

The table maximum limit, for instance, in an inside bet varies from place to place. Some have it in between £25.00 and £1,500. There are establishments that set the limit in this manner: Max Inside Bet – £150.00 any way to the number.

This means that the player can make a Straight-up bet for as low as £150.00, a Split for £300.00, or a corner for £600.00, while each of the bet feature a similar number.

For outside bets, the amount may vary between £1,000.00 and £10,000, depending on the casino. The limit, in this case, applies for each singe outside bets made.

Any Way to the Number

For some who doesn’t know it yet, the term means that a player can bet the table max on every possible bet to be made. Should the max is set to £1,000.00, he can absolutely put in £1,000.00 for a Straight-up bet, the same amount on a Split, on a column, etc.

Knowing this information may help the player make well-informed decision especially on how to manage his bankroll and prevent himself from being kicked out of the table for each betting violations made.

Tips When Playing American Roulette

Of the three roulette game variants, the American roulette is the most disdained when compared to the European and the French roulette. If you are wondering why it is not as popular as the other versions, then the answer is pretty much simple: the American roulette wheel has two zeros.

Now we have thoroughly discussed in this article the big role the zero has to play on how you can make profits or lose your payroll.  In short, the green-colored number in the pocket and in the wheel gives the house an edge against the player. Considering that the American roulette has two of those (European and French both have one each), it means that it drastically increases the casino’s advantage!

However, when playing roulette in online casinos, a player might be left with no other option but to make do of what’s available. So, will you just cower and let the opportunity of winning huge cash slip away or face the challenge that is brought by the extra zero of the American roulette?

If you belong to the latter type, then these proven strategies on how to play online American roulette is for you. But before anything else, let’s look at some reasons why you’re still in a good position when you play the American roulette.

The odds and payouts are the same…

Dear reader, despite the infamy that the American roulette has to suffer, the fact still remains that its odds and payouts are pretty much the same to that of the European single zero wheels.

Taking the information from this previous article, suppose we look at the player’s odd to win with a straight number, in a European roulette, it’s 2.70%. On the other hand, there’s a 2.63% chance for a player to win in the American roulette.

The payouts of both roulette variant are also identical. They both have 35:1 for a straight, 17:1 for a split, 11:1 for a street, and so on.

So, let’s dive into the tips on how to make the best out of the American roulette.

  1. Opt for Free Demos

Give yourself some risk-free game time with the American roulette, and you can do this via demo mode versions offered by some UK casino websites. Needless to say, this will enable you to get the lay of the land while allowing you to get better grips on how the system works.

  1. Set Stop Loss Limit

In a previous post, we put great emphasis in the importance of setting a losing and winning limit when you want each and every online roulette games to be successful. The same rules apply when playing American roulette: always play safe or else lose control of your bankroll.

  1. Claim Bonus Offers

Online casinos are pretty much aware of the high edge of the American roulette. To compensate, these online roulette casino sites are offering special types of roulette promos for this game aside from the welcome, sign up and reload bonuses.

Given this fact, it’s best for you to take advantage of these offers as this can further help you stay longer in the game.

  1. Go for Even Money Bets

Although the payouts for outside bets are just 1:1, the odds of winning, however, are close to 50%! Such bets are Odd/Even, Red/Black, 1-18/19-36. It’s pretty much of a grind, but unless you have a limited bankroll and luck is really hard to come by, playing even money bets allows you to have an extended play time. Of course, the longer you stay in the roulette game table, the higher are your chances of winning.

  1. Opt for Live Games

We highly recommend, whether you’re playing European, American or French roulette, to play the game live. Live roulette uses real roulette game table and is hosted by a human croupier. Aside from having a spectacular close-to-reality gaming experience, playing online roulette live also allows you to make a close observation as to how the wheel spins and the ball bounces. Knowing these factors can somehow help you predict the next outcome.

The Best Betting Systems That Will Help You Win At Roulette (Part 2)

The second part of our article series where we go into detail about the best roulette systems to use is finally here, and it just keeps getting better. For those who missed it, click on this link which will take you to the first post. Otherwise, let’s get moving and get to know the rest of the roulette betting systems that work.

  1. The Paroli Roulette Betting System

Disregarding its original Latin meaning (which is actually “one that is equal”), the Paroli system is basically a positive betting progression. This is often being compared to the Martingale System, which we have discussed earlier, but they do differ greatly. The Martingale is a “double your bet after one loss” system while the Paroli will see you doubling your wager after each win.

The object of this betting system is to achieve three consecutive wins in a row. This happens while doubling the bet for each win. Should the wager loses, for example in the first bet, the player will be “flat betting” with one unit until it wins. Next up, he will double the bet. If it loses, he will return flat betting one unit until it wins. This time, the second bet (which is already 2X the first) will be doubled again. The third win would be the end of the progression.

  1. The Oscar’s Grind Roulette Betting System

Oscar’s Grind, as tedious as it may sound, is probably one of the simplest online casino roulette system to use and it doesn’t require much explaining. Roulette players who love to put their chips on either Red or Black, Even or Odd, and in 1-18/19-36 can find this betting system quite effective.

The ultimate aim here is to win just one bet. For example, if you bet £1 on red and that color came up in the spin, then awesome, you already won using the system. Realistically though, you will lose a few spins. However, regardless of how many spins it would take for your bet to win, the bet size should be the same all throughout. And then, when it actually wins, the next bet will now become one unit bigger than the last.

Take a look at the chart below:

Bet Result Profit
£1 Loss –          £1
£1 Loss –          £2
£1 Win –          £1
£2 Win        +     £1 (perfect time to cash out)

  1. The Shotwell Betting System

The Shotwell system is yet another popular roulette betting system that has been used ever since it became known to the public in 1978. Its main objective is to cover a particular set of numbers that are evenly placed on the roulette table. The strategy behind it is to give the player a better shot at winning, although, it could take a great deal of time and money to do so.

It works in such a way that a player would place a unit of bet that entails a six-number setup and then associate it with four straight up bets. There would be 10 numbers covered in total for each spin. Technically speaking, there’s a 25% chance that one of your numbers get pocketed.

  1. The Kavouras Betting System

If frustration kicks in or if you just feel like doing something outrageous, then you might want to take a look at this rather unique roulette betting system called the Kavouras Bet. In its essence, the system inclines on the notion that everything happens in a rather chaotic fashion. As such, players would cover up to half the numbers in the table with bets in different sizes. There’s no specific method in selecting the number, just put it where you like it and just wait and see what pocket the ball lands into.

To wrap up, allow us to say that there isn’t really a single system that could guarantee a 100% win. Unless of course you employ the help of a computer system that could accurately predict the outcome of the spin by way of complicated math computations, but that is entirely illegal.

What we have here are just some of the common betting strategies you can use to get a highly entertaining and hopefully, high-yielding online roulette game experience.
