What is Double Action Roulette?

What makes roulette extremely fun isn’t just about the huge potential earnings a player can draw out from it but also of its different variations. It’s like your favourite food that comes in various flavors! If you can remember in this post we revealed to you some interesting roulette game versions found on the Internet. Meanwhile, this article dishes out the more common roulette game variations like the European, American and French roulette.

In this particular post, we are going to introduce yet another exciting variation of the beloved roulette game – the Double Action Roulette.

First shown in the public at the 2012 Global Gaming Expo, the Double Action Roulette was a proprietary game of TCS John Huxley. It can be played on the company’s Mark VII Roulette Wheel.

What makes it a cut above the rest is that the game can deliver two winning numbers from just a single spin. This is done by using two rings of numbers which spin independently from each other. Per the usual, a ball will be tossed by the dealer which will land in a fret sitting between the two rings.

The player now has the option to bet on the outcome derived from either of the rings or both.

Layout of the Game

As already stated above, Double Action Roulette utilizes two rings of numbers. Between the outer and the inner ring of numbers lies the frets where the ball would settle into. Please see screenshot of an example of a Double Action Roulette wheel.

According to TCS John Huxley, the game is further available in single-zero as well as in single and double-zero roulette versions.

The details found in the betting table for Double Action Roulette correspond to that of the wheel such that it consists of two identical betting areas. Each area of the betting layout accommodates bets for either of the two sets of number on the wheel. In addition to the two major areas, there are other betting layouts like the Double Action Track which, for the love of money, pays up to a whopping 1200 to 1!

See picture of a betting layout below:

Game Rules

Contrary to what you might expect, there aren’t any complicated rules involved when playing Double Action roulette. Rest assured, even a beginner roulette player will get the hang of this new game variant in no time.

Same as the usual, players would place their wagers until the dealer calls off the process. Once the ball settles into one of the frets, the winning numbers will be announced, or in this case, the table will illuminate on both betting areas.

After the croupier identifies and puts a mark on the winning numbers, he will then move any Double Action bets to the rim of the wheel. He will then sweep the Double Action Track, moving to the farthest area of the wheel (area “B”) and that which is close to the wheel (area “A”).

Types of Bets and Payouts

There are two major ring bets to be made in this game: Single Ring Bets and Double Ring Bets.

Single Ring Bets

These bets can be made on either the inner or outer rings as well their corresponding payouts.

  • Straight up: 1 number; pays 35 to 1.
  • Split: 2 numbers; pays 17 to 1
  • Corner Bet: four numbers; pays 8 to 1
  • Street Bet: six numbers; pays 5 to 1
  • Line bet: twelve numbers; pays 2 to 1

Double Ring Bets

These bets work on parlays, wherein the player must win BOTH on both rings

  • Single number; pays 1200 to 1
  • Two red, Black, Odd, Even, 1 – 18, 19 – 36; pays 3 to 1
  • First, second, third dozen; pays 8 to 1
  • First eight numbers in double-zero format (0, 00, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6); pays 18 to 1
  • First seven numbers in single-zero format (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6); pays 25 to 1

More Unusual Roulette Game Versions Found on the Internet

The sky is the limit when you think of the possibilities that can be achieved online. From the three major types of online casino roulette (European, American, French) comes forth a handful of other roulette game versions that some of us may find quite interesting.

Thanks to the rapid development in computing and Internet technology as well as the creativity of game makers, these new breeds of roulette games have the potential to deliver that level of fun and excitement which previously can only be found in the three classic variants.

In a previous post, we pointed out some of the different roulette game variations that are quite popular among online casino players. In the same vein, we will show you once again yet another batch of unique roulette game variants which can only be played online.

Although the name, the format, and other game aspects may greatly differ from what you used to play, these Internet roulette games follow the same objective: to make predictions as to where the ball might land in the roulette wheel.

So, without any further delay, let us get to know more unusual roulette game versions found on the Internet.

The Express Roulette

If you are an online game developer, what rules or aspect of roulette you want to change or improve? In Express Roulette, the developers thought of adding more balls! This particular roulette variety is played with three balls. It is popular among the online casino community because of its increased possibility to place more extra bets. Not only that, the payouts are quite huge which is now up to 210 to 1.

The Mini Roulette

If you think that the rules of a full European or American roulette version is too much to handle, then you might want to take a short repose with the Mini-version of roulette. This special game is most popular among beginners because instead of 37 numbers, there are only 12 but it still includes the zero.

Intermediate to expert players could still find the excitement and profit with the Mini-version as the betting rules are just the same: single numbers, combination of numbers, odd/even, red/black. With only 12 numbers, the chances of winning in the Mini-version is quite higher compared to that of the American roulette.

Alphabetic Roulette

Yup! It’s roulette, but instead of numbers, the game developers opted for letters. To make it even more complicated, the colors are now more than two!

Instead of 36/37, there are 25 slots in the Alphabetic Roulette wheel and table, each signifying the letters from A to X, plus 1 for both Y and Z. And as we said, there are now six colors involved in this game and each consists of four letters. The YZ, being the special kind, is treated like the single zero of a European/American roulette as it has a different color.

It might tickle your curiosity to try the game but the house edge of 4% could quell your appetite for a roulette adventure.

The Chinese Roulette

Since we’re talking about making huge changes in the game’s landscape, let us talk about the Chinese Roulette. Readers might already have an inkling as to what could make the game stand out, and yes, it is still the absence of numbers.

Instead of numbers, this oriental-inspired online roulette game uses the Chinese zodiac signs: Rooster, Dog, Dragon, Tiger, Monkey, Goat, Horse, Rat, Snake, Pig, Ox, and Rabbit. The payout is 11 to 1 and instead of zero, the game displays an eternity sign.

The Pinball Roulette

If you like the concept of combining roulette and bingo into one game, called the Spingo, then you might be interested with the pinball roulette. It’s a clever combination of the two well-loved games.

The most striking feature of this game is that it has no roulette wheel. There is, however, a ball which is launched like you do with a pinball game. It then collides with plenty of obstacles, which changes its course along the way. The result would then be determined as to where the ball lands at the bottom of the field which is divided into several segments numbering from 0 to 35. Like the roulette, the segments are colored red, black and a single green (which is the zero).

These are just the tip of the iceberg. There are still roulette varieties out there which showcase different unique qualities. This post won’t suffice to cover them all. But this gets to show you how diverse this casino game can become. So if you want to add more excitement into your online roulette gaming, all you need to do is to find what floats your boat. You never know what’s in store for you!

Good luck and enjoy!

Betting System in Focus: The Kesselgucken

Most of the betting systems featured in this site are developed mathematically. This week, however, our Betting System in Focus would involve the physical features of the roulette wheel.

Unlike those famous wagering systems you often hear about, this one right here is not that widely known. Despite of which, we assure you that once you learn this method, you’d be impressed at how your online roulette gameplay has improved.

The Basics of Kesselgucken Roulette Betting System

The Kesselgucken is a product of German ingenuity wherein, as already stated, it differs greatly in terms of use and mechanics when compared to popular betting systems like the Martingale or the Paroli. The term roughly translates to English as “to closely observe the roulette wheel.”

As the phrase suggests, the success of the method relies greatly on how the player pays attention on what is happening before making a move rather than just recall a betting pattern and act accordingly to it.

The Goal of the Method

Sound judgment plus a quick hand are what’s needed to achieve the goal of the Kesselgucken. The player has to get a good feeling as to how the ball lands on the roulette wheel once the croupier releases it. In a matter of just a few seconds, the player must be able to make up a good guess on which pocket the ball will fall into. A bet/bets are then placed as quickly as possible before the dealer makes the announcement that he’s no longer accepting bets. Easier said than done, but it’s possible to pull off the betting trick if the player is willing to put in a lot of practice hours.

How the System Works

There are a lot of factors to consider when using the Kesselgucken act. One would be the speed of the spinning roulette wheel and the initial position of the ball before the croupier drops it. Taken into consideration are also the small obstacles down below the ball track, called the diamonds. They can cause the ball to bounce even more erratically which could, consequently, influence the outcome of the round.

How quickly a player can form his judgment on what number or group of numbers to bet is also of utmost importance when working with the Kesselgucken. This helps because he is basically up against that small fraction of time before the croupier announces “no more bets, please.”

The reason behind the late calls from the player is quite obvious: the later he makes the bet, the easier for him to estimate where the ball lands.

Perfect Pair for the Kesselgucken

Players who are keen to try out this betting system can do it with the French roulette game variant. In a previous article, we mentioned about this version of the game which is pretty much like the European roulette but with additional variety of betting options for the players to make. These are the Voisins du Zero (neighbours of zero), Tiers du Cylindre (the third), and the Orphelins (orphans).

These terms basically just refer to the numbers covered in the three sections of the roulette wheel.

With the Kesselgucken, players can take on these betting combinations which comprise of series of numbers closely located next to each other.

Pros and Cons

Approximation is the bread and butter of the Kesselgucken. Since roulette is a game of chance, the system best serves the player by narrowing down the options for him to take. It literally helps the player predict the outcome accurately, perhaps even with a small fraction of errors.

However, there are technical changes in the gameplay which could thwart the effectiveness of the system. There are land based casinos that are quite strict when it comes to betting calls. They are less likely to put up with roulette players whom they suspect are using the Kesselgucken method.

Furthermore, the system is no good when it comes to Random Number Generated (RNG) online roulette games. In this type of roulette, the outcome is determined not by a physical wheel but by an algorithm. That is why, when playing casino roulette online and you wish to use the Kesselgucken, we strongly recommend doing it in a live dealer roulette.

Top Reasons Why It’s Best to Play Live Dealer Roulette Online

Roulette is arguably one of the most fun casino games a player can ever get his hands with. It’s easy to play and there’s not that much to keep in mind, except of course, the basics of roulette betting. Nevertheless, the simplicity and straightforwardness of the game makes even the most casual of all gamblers reap tons of fun and profit.

A roulette table with casino players

When going online, all these unique qualities of roulette are retained, and dare we say, made even more exciting!

There are two kinds of online roulette gameplay that you can choose from: RNG (Random Number Generated) or Live Roulette. We previously discuss the difference in an earlier article here. But in hopes to put an end on this debate, we have to concur to the consensus that LIVE Roulette is probably the best route to take when you want to play roulette online. Here’s our reasons why.

It Definitely Feels Real

The problem when playing roulette in online casinos is that the element of “realness” diminishes. Among the two aforementioned options, however, live roulette is the most realistic way to play the game when online. It’s popular among players because they feel like they’re playing in a real casino all while sitting comfortably at home.

Another reason is that, you can see the croupier with your own two eyes. Although they can’t see you back in turn, it becomes an advantage for you as you can wear whatever you feel like wearing. You can even play the game in your favourite PJ’s. If you want, you can wear your birthday suit as you spin away for the big win.

Authenticity

If it’s an authentic roulette gaming experience you looking for, live dealer roulette is definitely the best option to take as the game is played exactly like it is meant to be in a land-based casino. Real physical roulette wheel – check! Roulette table – check! Croupier – check!

It’s like you’re sitting or standing in a real roulette table complete with all the fun, thrill, and action that are felt when in a brick and mortar casino. Did we forget to mention the real money you can win? Of course, the cash prizes here are all yours to keep.

If you prefer to have real dealer results rather than rely with those outcomes generated by RNG’s, the live dealer roulette is the perfect choice. You can watch the wheel spins to your fortune (or loss, if lady luck won’t permit) in real time.

Social Aspects

Playing in live dealer roulette is, without a doubt, a social experience. There is a real interaction to be had among players who might come from the different parts of the globe. Aside from that fact, it’s also a great way to connect with individuals who share the same enthusiasm of the game with you. The live online roulette room could become an avenue where you can improve your gameplay as some players can be friendly or helpful enough to share some tips, tricks or strategies with you.

Even if you’re just alone with the croupier, the online roulette gaming experience can never be better. These hardworking casino professionals are trained to keep their clients entertained throughout the duration of the game. As long as you’re on the table, they are more than happy to deliver to you the best services that their online casino establishment has to offer.

Plenty of Choices

Lastly, you’ll find yourself drowned in a sea of choices when you decide to go live roulette online. There’s a wide selection of different variants of the game that you can take a pick with. It could be European, American, or French roulette. The possibilities are near to endless as some casinos are proud to include in their selection some roulette game versions that you might never have heard of yet. If you’re up for that higher tier roulette gameplay, there are Pro or Elite levels where bigger stakes and added gaming features awaits.

If live dealer roulette is something that you want to try, we personally recommend these online roulette casinos. Enjoy and good luck!

RNG or Live Roulette: Which Method to Go When Playing Online Roulette?

Online roulette games are traditionally played via random number generation or RNG. RNG works in such a way that a virtual roulette ball will land in a number generated randomly by a computer. With the rapid development in computer and communication technology, holding a real, live roulette session has been made possible for everyone around the world. Aside from having a registered with an online roulette website, to play live roulette would need a stable broadband internet connection so that a smooth and seamless roulette play is experienced.

What’s the deal with RNG?

The preference for virtual roulette (as RNG roulette is sometimes being called) stems from its versatility in terms of game pace. Unlike a live roulette, RNG games can be played as fast or as slow paced, and this depends on the player’s choice or level of playing. It is a one-to-one roulette game thus, an online player is guaranteed that he is not competing or playing with other online players. It’s just him and the virtual croupier.

All of the results in an RNG roulette are produced randomly and so, any mishandlings by a live roulette operator can be avoided. Furthermore, the randomly generated results are regularly being checked by online gaming industry authorities. A safe and secure playing environment are, after all, two of the topmost concerns of a roulette enthusiast.

Moreover, some RNG-operating roulette websites are offering Free Roulette gaming opportunities. This is just but perfect for players who wish to practice their newly-learned roulette playing strategies or for those who are generally new to this exciting casino game.

Online roulette players may access RNG roulette either by downloading first a software or doing it directly on the website. They also have the option to choose between a virtual European roulette or an American RNG roulette.

Despite the advantages cited above, RNG roulette systems are being bombarded with issues of mistrust and suspicions among players. They believe that an online roulette casino can easily rig a game. When 10 reds are coming out six times, consecutively, players might have the reason to suspect that the establishment has decided to flip the cheat switch on. However, players need not to worry about this possibilities as there’s none of it in the first place. Of course, a reputable online casino would take great care of its reputation and would less likely to commit such fraudulent acts which could break their members’ trust on them.

The Choice of Live Roulette

Live roulette games are slowly taking over the online roulette gaming scene. People in this game mode feel more confident because they believe there is less room for the casino to manipulate a live wheel. Also, they can see the wheel spinning in real time.

There are different ways a live roulette is being done. The most popular is the studio casino where a roulette game is digitally set-up and streamed live to the camera. This is different from a real live casino feed as a croupier is hosting a game from a land-based casino. Automated roulette is also common and in this game, no humans are involved as the ball is launched on the wheel via an air blaster.

Like RNG, there are problems that can be encountered with live roulette. Some of this also pertains to table cheats. Experts, however, would quickly dismiss these claims as pure game error based on the fact that there are humans involved. Still, it’s not that hard for a player to imagine that a shady casino would rig an RNG and thus they’d likely to go straight for a live session.

The choice to go live or go RNG in your next roulette game remains a personal preference. One thing that remains for sure, roulette is a game of chance and as far as we know, whether the generation of an outcome is done by a hand or by a computer, you will always win some or lose some. So good luck and have fun!

Betting on Single Zero Roulette

The single zero roulette, although it is available to play in all parts of the world, both online or in a land-based casino, is particularly popular among European casino players. Commonly known as the European roulette, the single zero roulette is far more favourable to play than its counterpart, the double zero roulette, otherwise known as the American roulette.

The so-called old Continent roulette wheel draws more players because of the fact that it has a lower house edge than the American roulette wheel.

In this section right here, we explained thoroughly the roulette house edge and why it is important for any roulette players to know it before they sit on a roulette game. For those who missed it, we pointed out that the house edge is simply the advantage the casino establishment has, whether it is online or a brick and mortar, over the player. This is how they make their profit, and any gambler in the right mind wouldn’t want himself to get caught in a game where he’ll be more likely to lose against the house than win for himself.

Describing the Single Zero Roulette

The single zero roulette can easily be spotted with a roulette wheel that has 37 numbered slots on it. The numbers are from 1 to 36 plus a single zero slot. The numbers are alternately colored from red to black except for the 0 which is colored green.

Looking at the arrangement of the roulette wheel, one might have the impression that the numbering is done randomly. On the contrary, the distribution is well thought of in such a way that the sum of the numbers from this part of the wheel is equal to the total of the opposite area.

Betting on the Single Zero Roulette

There’s basically two types of bets in a roulette – the inside and the outside bets. You can head over to this link to find more details on bets. But basically, inside bets are done on the areas of the roulette table where the individual numbers are located. The other type of bet, meanwhile, is placed in the outer area where there’s no specific numbers to be found but only the colors, groupings and odd or even-money.

The house edge on a European roulette is 2.7% and the rate can further be diminished thanks to the special rules that are exclusively applied on single zero roulette games.

To mention a few, there’s the “la partage” rule. What it means is that when the ball falls into the zero pocket, players who placed bets on even-money receive half of their bet back. Computations would tell that the house edge goes down to 1.35%

Another special rule is the “en prison.” As hinted by the term, the player’s bet that lost is put into prison. If the pocket that comes up is zero, the bet is withheld until the next spin. If your bet finally comes up, then the imprisoned bet is returned to you. Should you lose the second time, the bet finally goes to the house.

A lot of online roulette casinos feature European or American roulette. Our personal pick is the former since the advantage leans more towards the players than on the casino.
